Influencer Skincare vs. Esthetician Expertise:
Why It Matters for Your Skin
And Why Product Sourcing Isn’t Just About Ingredients—It’s About Trust
Influencer Skincare vs. Esthetician Expertise:
Why It Matters for Your Skin
These days, skincare advice is everywhere... Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and blogs. And while it’s amazing that more people are becoming skincare-savvy, there’s also a growing gap between what’s trending and what’s actually safe and effective for your skin.
As a licensed holistic esthetician, I’m here to clear up the confusion and explain why not all skincare advice (or products) should be treated equally, and how I make sure that everything I bring into my treatment room is something I’d truly trust on your face.

Influencer Advice vs. Professional Esthetician Guidance
Let’s get one thing straight:
Influencers aren’t bad. They’re passionate, creative, and many have incredible skin journeys to share. But what works beautifully for their skin might completely irritate yours.
Here’s the difference:
Influencers:
Recommends products based on trends, sponsorships, or personal use
Often untrained in skin science or ingredient formulation
Uses and promotes mass-market products
Follows trends that may or may not be good for you personally
Estheticians:
Recommends based on skin analysis, condition, and clinical knowledge
Professionally trained in skin biology, ingredients, and treatment protocols
Curates products based on clinical efficacy, sourcing, and compatibility
Builds long-term skin health plans tailored to your needs
It’s not about who’s right or wrong... It’s about who’s trained to understand your skin.
Why Product Sourcing Matters (A Lot More Than You Think)
Even more important than who recommends a product… is where it comes from.
As a professional, I don’t just look at the front of the label. I dig deeper.
When I add a new product line to Lindsay Rose Beauty, here’s what I personally verify:
✅ Trusted distributors – I only work with verified brands and vendors I can track directly to the manufacturer. No random listings, no sketchy wholesalers.
✅ Ingredient integrity – I look for ethically sourced, skin-safe ingredients—free from harsh fillers, outdated preservatives, or unregulated actives.
✅ Clinical-grade formulations – Backed by science, tested for safety, and used in professional protocols around the world.
✅ Results without risk – No harmful trends, no one-size-fits-all, no compromising your skin just to try what’s popular.
There are too many copycat products out there... some even expired, watered down, or counterfeit. Your skin deserves better.
My Commitment to You
I test everything before it touches your face as long as it's healthy for me. By this I mean, because of health concerns, there are some things that I am not allowed to use, such as the Time Master Pro device with electrical plus. My heart has an electrical issue so that is not safe for me. But I do test it on others and get feedback before moving forward long-term.
Let's chase a rabbit... I think my next post should be about why medical forms for professionals who are "just giving a facial" have to be filled out. I have been asked and refused by some, so I will dive into that in the future!
Now, back on topic...
I research the company, the lab, the sourcing, and the ingredient stability. I make sure the product aligns with your skin goals... and your values.
And I’ll never recommend something just because it’s trending. If I suggest a serum, mask, or supplement, it’s because I’ve seen it work, I trust it, and I believe in what it’s made of... and I am excited about it!
Whether it’s a mushroom-based healing formula, K-beauty collagen boosters, or barrier-repair peptides, everything I use has a purpose... and a plan.
The Bottom Line
In a world of skincare hype and 15-second beauty tips, it’s more important than ever to know who you’re listening to and where your products come from.
Your skin is unique. It deserves ingredients that work with it, not against it.
And that’s what I’m here for.
Does this mean Estheticians do not make mistakes... no, absolutely not. We are human, and everyone's skin is different, and sometimes it works great while other times... It's a huge no-go or a mistake that has longer effects than were not intended.
Just like Doctors practice medicine...I think Estheticians are practising their profession also and learning what works and what doesn't. We pride ourselves on walking the entire journey with you.
When it doesn't, we analyze, research, inquire and worry until we can figure it out and come up with a solution.
Unfortunately, the influencer may not even know you bought it and doesn't know your name or is not willing to work with you if there is an issue that sends you to the doctor, because that is also the beauty in being an affiliate with different products. They don't have to deal with the blowback if something goes wrong; they refer you to the company for help. (Yes, I have had clients message about products they have purchased from influencers that have created issues with their skin, and they need extra help.
Don't get me wrong here...I love me a good affiliate program, but I also incorporate it into my practice where it's more than an affiliation for me on anything I recommend. It's calling, and I will be here to help as long as you want me to be.

Final Thoughts
Skincare is personal, and with so much information (and misinformation) floating around, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. While influencers can offer fun tips and product recs, true skin transformation comes from personalized care, high-quality ingredients, and professional guidance.
My job isn’t just to give you glowing skin today, it’s to protect your skin for the long haul. I’ll always prioritize products that are ethically sourced, clinically backed, and safe for your unique skin needs.
I try to dive into the products I bring to my practice and learn about those. This is why it's hard to recommend something at the grocery store or at CVS. My recommendations mean a lot to me, and I have not spent my hours of learning on all the many companies at the store, but I have from the high-quality clinical and professional-grade lines that I have associated myself with.
So before you buy that trending serum or viral cream, let’s chat. Your skin deserves more than hype... it deserves real results. 💕
